12th April 2018
Each year, colour trend specialist Pantone announces its Colour of the Year and after seeing 2018’s Ultra Violet – a rich, regal purple – we knew we had to experiment with it in the garden.
Our Plant Ladder Display is new for 2018 and lets you indulge in a spot of ‘vertical gardening’. It is an attractive way to display your prized plants, flowers or herbs, regardless of how big or small your outside space. It is great for a patio, for sectioning off parts of the garden and would even fit on a balcony!
It was an obvious choice when we wanted to get out our paintbrushes! So we joined with the team from specialist paint manufacturer, Thorndown, to paint our Plant Ladder Display in their interpretation of the striking shade, which they have called ‘Purple Rain’.
We recommend planting up your Ultra Violet Plant Ladder Display with bright yellow pansies, daffodils or primroses for an impactful, complimentary colour scheme, with each colour making the other even more dynamic. Or, if you want your purple to really pack a punch, why not plant your container up with flowers in a similar, violet shade? Senetti Violet, lavender and pansies are all great options.
If you’re looking for something more understated for your garden theme, choosing pastel shades is a good way to go. Our Victorian Tall Wall Greenhouse makes a decorative – and practical – addition to the garden, and is perfect if you don’t have the space for a full-sized greenhouse! We painted one in a delicate petal-pink shade, and think it looks positively rosy!
We’re looking forward to experimenting with more of Thorndown’s fantastic paint colours in the garden. If you like to be creative in the garden and have a bright yellow bench or a royal blue shed – we’d like to see! Share your garden photos with us on Twitter or Facebook.
