As the weather heats up, the garden beckons, and thoughts turn to lazy summer days spent relaxing and entertaining outside. To make your outside space as enjoyable and usable as possible, garden furniture is an essential buy. Whether you are replacing old furniture, or starting from scratch, there are a few things to consider before you invest.
With so many options to choose from it can seem overwhelming, but we have created this guide to choosing the best furniture to suit your space and lifestyle.
This rather big question can be made more manageable by thinking about how you want to use your garden. For example, if you enjoy having lots of friends and family over for meals outside, the 1.8 metre Refectory Table paired with a couple of the Double Sleeper Benches is perfect for entertaining large numbers. You can also add extra chairs to use as and when needed. Its contemporary, chunky design will fit beautifully into most garden schemes.
If your alfresco entertaining extends to cooking outside, the BBQ Shelter is a great addition to the garden. Its patented roof vent design ensures maximum ventilation for smoke and odours, and extra wide hand rails provide additional space for plates and glasses.
If you have less space outside, or if you don’t often have guests visiting, something smaller like the Circular Picnic Table may be more appropriate. Its attractive rounded design makes it stand out from traditional picnic benches and means that it can sit neatly in the corner of a garden, not taking up too much room, whilst still having space for eight people.
As an alternative to a full dining table, a bench can also be a good option for providing outdoor seating. The Harvington Bench is available in 4ft and 5ft options and provides informal seating in a traditional design. Also within the range is the Harvington Love Seat which features a table in the middle, so is the perfect place to share a relaxing drink in the garden. Add in a Low Sleeper Table, and you have a wonderfully versatile relaxing and dining arrangement that can be added to when needed.
If space is really limited, but you still want to have some seating, a Sleeper Bench, available in 1.2 and 1.8 metre options, is ideal. It can be arranged to make the most of a great view or simply to provide a place to sit and rest your legs after a day of digging in the garden!
